| The Workforce Investment
Act provides for “customer choice”
when an eligible individual requires training
to become employed in a regional demand occupation.
Current certified training providers
offer numerous training programs throughout
the region to eligible customers. The programs
range from two-year Associate Degrees to short-term
certification, i.e, commercial truck driver.
Training is accomplished
by issuing an Individual Training Account
(ITA) to an eligible customer. The ITA can
fund up to $4,000 for a twelve-month training
period. Eligible customers must
choose from a training program offered by
a Workforce Investment Board Certified Training
Provider that meets the U.S. Department of Labor criteria as an In-Demand-Ocupation for Region VII.
